From Glory to Glory

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

THE STRUGGLE TO CHANGE OURSELVES

One of the greatest struggles in the Christian life is trying to become who God wants us to be through our own efforts. We identify areas that need change, make resolutions, and try harder to improve ourselves. Yet, despite our determination, we often find ourselves fighting the same battles and repeating the same mistakes.

The problem is not that transformation is unnecessary, but that we can approach it from the wrong direction. We focus so much on trying to change ourselves that we lose sight of the One who transforms us.

The Christian life is not merely about trying harder to behave better; it is about becoming more like Jesus. And this transformation does not begin with our ability to change ourselves. It begins with fixing our eyes on Him.

BEHOLD HIM AND BE TRANSFORMED

Paul writes that we are “being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.” Notice that the focus is not on manufacturing transformation but on beholding the glory of the Lord.

As we behold Christ, the Holy Spirit works within us to transform us into His likeness. The more we know Him, contemplate His character, understand His Word, and yield to His Spirit, the more our lives are shaped to reflect Him.

This does not mean that we become passive or that spiritual disciplines are unnecessary. Rather, prayer, the Word, worship, and obedience become ways in which we turn our attention toward Christ and respond to His work in us.

Transformation is a work of the Spirit, not a product of human effort alone. We cooperate with Him, but He is the One who changes us.

And this transformation is progressive. The phrase “from glory to glory” reminds us that God is continually at work in His people, shaping us to reflect the image of His Son. We may not be where we desire to be yet, but as we continue walking with Christ, we should not remain as we were.

FIX YOUR EYES ON JESUS TODAY

Before the demands of the day take over, take a moment to behold Him.

Before you immerse yourself in responsibilities, conversations, deadlines, and challenges, give your attention to Christ. Read His Word, meditate on His character, and invite the Holy Spirit to shape your thoughts, attitudes, and responses.

When you face a difficult person, behold the patience of Jesus. When temptation comes, remember His holiness. When anxiety rises, consider His faithfulness. When pride threatens to take over, look again at His humility.

Do not measure your spiritual growth only by how hard you are trying. Also ask yourself whether you are growing in your knowledge of Christ and becoming more like Him.

Today, do not make changing yourself your primary focus. Make beholding Jesus your priority, and let your life increasingly reflect the One you behold.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for making transformation possible through the work of Your Holy Spirit. Forgive me for the times I have relied solely on my own strength to become who You have called me to be. Help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, to delight in Your Word, and to remain attentive to Your presence. As I behold the glory of the Lord, transform my heart, renew my mind, and shape my character to reflect Christ. May my words, attitudes, and actions reveal more of Jesus today. Take me from glory to glory, for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

MY DECLARATION

I declare that my life is being transformed by the Holy Spirit as I behold the glory of the Lord. I will not rely on my strength alone, nor will I be discouraged by the areas in which I still need to grow. My eyes are fixed on Jesus, my heart is yielded to His Word, and my life is being shaped into His likeness. Today, I choose to behold Him, follow Him, and reflect His character. By the Spirit of the Lord, I am moving from glory to glory, for the glory of God. Amen.
